Two Misericordia University senior biology majors recently presented their research posters at the 14th annual Undergraduate Research at the Capitol – Pennsylvania Poster Conference in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg.

Nominated by their professors, Rachel Bohn of Mountain Top presented her research, "A Mutagenesis Approach to Disrupt PAK2: A Protein Involved in Breast Cancer,'' and Kelsey Glavich of Browndale presented "Effects of Atrazine Exposure on Lemna Minor.'' The students' research projects were completed with assistance from faculty advisors Frank DiPino, Jr., Ph.D., professor of biology, and Cosima Wiese, Ph.D., associate professor of biology.

The educational event affords undergraduate students enrolled in Pennsylvania's institutions of higher education an opportunity to showcase their research to key decision-makers, while also networking with students from other colleges and universities. Misericordia University students presented their posters to Sen. Lisa Baker and received an escort to the Senate Floor where they had pictures taken with the elected official.
