Misericordia University recently hosted Katherine Martin, the manager of Study Abroad and the Americas for the International Education Division of the University of Limerick, Ireland, for a campus tour and meeting with students who studied there and are scheduled to study there in the summer. Martin's visit was held in support of expanding Misericordia's study abroad opportunities in the Emerald Isle.

Melissa Hackett and Lori Brennan, both elementary and special education majors from Howell, New Jersey; Molly Noon, an occupational therapy major from Ashland; and Erin O'Day, an education major from Bear Creek Township, are scheduled to travel to Ireland and study at Limerick in May and June. They had the opportunity to meet and learn about Limerick and the British Isles from Martin and occupational therapy major Georgia Cleary, a junior from Leola, who studied at Limerick in last summer, and Olivia McCorkel, a biology major from Stillwater, who spent a semester there in the fall of 2015.

"Limerick is such a good fit for Misericordia students because it has a broad variety of courses and subject matters, and is especially strong in the health sciences," said Marguerite R. Roy, J.D., visiting professor, Department of History and Government, and study abroad coordinator at Misericordia University. "Studying abroad helps students grow as individuals and experience a different culture first-hand. Our students are especially interested in studying abroad in Ireland, home of the Sisters of Mercy, so the University of Limerick is a particularly nice fit."
