The Student Government Association (SGA) at Misericordia University will host a 5K color run and children's carnival activities for the whole family as part of Spring Fest Weekend April 30-May 1 on campus.
The Spring Fest Carnival will be held Saturday, April 30 from 11a.m. - 4 p.m. on the lawn outside of the Banks Student Life Center. Open to youngsters in the community, the event will include inflatables, games and prizes. Admission is $2 and free to Misericordia students with proper identification.
On Sunday, May 1, SGA will host the Second Annual David A. Evans, Jr. Memorial Color Run on campus. Registration for the 5K run will be held at 9 a.m. at the Anderson Sports and Health Center. The race begins at 10 a.m. The cost is $30. The registration fee includes a T-shirt, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and color packet – participants will be splashed with colored powder throughout the race.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the David Evans Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at Holy Redeemer High School that is dedicated to students from the high school who plan to continue their education at Misericordia University. The fund was established in honor of David A. Evans by his parents, Dave and Dr. Dawn Evans. Dr. Evans is an assistant professor of occupational therapy at Misericordia University.
The community also is invited to come and watch a knockerball tournament that is being held for students at Misericordia University, beginning at 8 p.m. in Mangelsdorf Field. The new sports craze places the competitor in an inflated donut-shaped ball allowing them to defy gravity, and roll and bounce while they compete in a soccer game. Spectators are welcome.
